Bob and George Marshall and their guide Herbert Clark climbed all forty-six Adirondack High Peaks between 1918 and 1925. Later surveys put four of the forty-six under 4,000 feet and found one 4,000-foot summit the Marshalls had skipped, but the Adirondack Forty-Sixers kept the original list. Mount Marcy, the highest point in New York, tops it.
