Trip Report

First summit of Rainier with RMI! Made it to the crater at around 6:15 and Columbia Crest at 6:45.

Weather was a bit better than expected. Slightly colder and windier than forecasted which helped firm up everything above the icebox and bowling alley.

As of yesterday there’s 2 ladders in. One above the flats, and then the one bridging the vertical gap between the larger crevasse up higher.

Snow bridges are failing quickly. One in particular we punched through multiple times (I went up to my knees). I imagine there will be more ladders soon.
