Cedar Island National Wildlife Refuge, located in Carteret County, North Carolina, is on the end of a peninsula marking the southern end of Pamlico Sound. The dominant marsh plants include black needlerush, saltmarsh cordgrass, saltmeadow hay, and saltgrass.
